This Saturday, October 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 50 Kent at Bushwick Inlet Park will play host to its first-ever Halloween Fest.

Enjoy an afternoon full of free performances, festivities and more, including musical performances by the Shinbone Alley Stilt Band.

There will be art-making workshops for kids, face painting by Smudge Pudge, spooky musical puppet theater by Fairy Tale Marionettes, and other games by the Parks Department.

The Urban Park Rangers will also make a special appearance.

Following the afternoon of fun, catch a free open-air screening of Tim Burton’s 1998 classic comedy-horror, “Beetlejuice!”

In PropertyShark’s latest report on the most expensive neighborhoods in New York City, Greenpoint placed 11th overall, just outside the top ten.

The area saw a 26 percent year-over-year increase. Based on 50 transactions in the third quarter, the neighborhood had a median sale price of $1,319,134.

That makes Greenpoint the third most expensive neighborhood in Brooklyn behind Cobble Hill ($1,795,000) at 7th overall and Carroll Gardens ($1,431,250) at 10th overall.

Williamsburg ended up tied at 24th place in Q3, with a median sale price of $999,000 based on 134 transactions – the most on the list. It saw a 5 percent increase in year-over-year change.

According to the report, Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens all had a decrease in the number of transactions year-over-year, with Queens dipping by 1.4 percent.

NYC Parks and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment are hosting a free screening of “Pet Sematary (2019)” on Friday, October 18 from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m.

The screening will take place on the lawn of Monsignor McGolrick Park in Greenpoint.

Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home.

The 16th Annual Greenpoint Children’s Halloween Parade, Spooktacular Party & Zombie Nerf War is scheduled for Sunday, October 27.

The costumed parade kicks off at 11:30 a.m. at 171 Java Street in front of the Polish & Slavic Center.

The Spooktacular Party will run from noon to 2 p.m., and the nerf war will follow that from 3 to 5 p.m.

The parade is free to join! The party and nerf war are $20 each online and $30 at the door.

On Thursday, October 3, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Broadway Stages (520 Kingsland Avenue), the Newtown Creek Alliance is hosting Tidal Toast, a celebration of the creek.

At the event, they will honor three people and organizations that have “made substantial contributions to reveal, restore and revitalize” Newtown Creek.

The honorees are:

• Jim Pynn (Reveal Award)
• NYC Audubon (Restore Award)
• Boyce Technologies (Revitalize Award)

The celebratory event will include tours of the Kingsland Wildflowers green roof, local food and drinks, a silent auction and presentations about NCA’s projects and programming.

The Parks Department and Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment are hosting a free screening of the film “What We Do in the Shadows” on Friday, October 4 at 6:30 p.m. at McCarren Park.

This Saturday, come out to St. Nicks Alliance’s fundraiser, the BK Story Voyager Touch A Truck, at Ericsson Playground from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event raises operating funds for the BK Story Voyager, a mobile multimedia library that brings passion for reading and learning on the road.

Also called “The Purple Bus” by schoolchildren, it promotes literacy, especially in underserved communities.

The annual Kingsland Wildflowers Festival is back next Saturday, September 21 from 2 to 6 p.m.

Enjoy green roof tours and lectures, a mural unveiling, a farmers market stand, kids workshops, art exhibit, dance and aerial shows, bouncy castle, live music and more!

The event at Broadway Stages kicks off Climate Week 2019, celebrating Greenpoint as a hub of environmental activism and activity.

You’ll learn more about the native rooftop meadow and wildlife habitat located on the banks of the Newtown Creek.

It’s official! SchoolFest 2019 is scheduled for Saturday, September 21 from noon to 5 p.m. at MS 126 in Greenpoint/Williamsburg.

The 12th annual school fair brings together public schools, private schools, early childhood centers, extracurricular programs and more, all for the benefit of local parents who want to learn more about opportunities available for their kids.

It’s especially valuable for parents (or grandparents!) who feel overwhelmed by the amount of school choices and the admissions process.

Is “Friday Night Lights” the best sports film of all time?

On Thursday night, NYC Parks and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment are hosting a free screening of the 2004 drama at McCarren Park in Greenpoint/Williamsburg.

The “Throwback Thursday” screening, which will be shown at the law at Lorimer Street and Driggs Avenue, will begin at 7:15 p.m.

Feel free to bring your own picnic blanket and/or chair. Food is allowed, but alcohol and smoking are not.

The film follows the coach and players of a Texas high school football team as it makes its run for the state championship.

Directed by Peter Berg, “Friday Night Lights” ranks 37th on Entertainment Weekly’s list of Best High School Movies.

It also won an ESPY Award for Best Sports Movie.
