The first-ever New York Food Book Fair was held this past weekend in the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg.

There were over 50 participants and 15 panels covering a diverse cross section of the literary food world, everything from Vegan cookbooks to a panel on food performance art. One food performance artist even served a meal on the L train.

This was an event for serious foodies, with three days of endless talk on eating food and making meals. The fair highlighted cookbooks, books about food systems, agriculture, urban design, and food art.

The founder of the Food Book Fair is Elizebeth Thacker Jones. The Garden Gather dinner was the highlight of the three-day event. It was prepared by Leif Hedendal and Mark Andrew on Friday night in the subterranean private dining room of the Wythe Hotel.

The six-course tasting menu featured locally gardened and gathered ingredients from the likes of Brooklyn Grange and forager Evan Strusinski

There was also a pop-up bookstore for the event in the hotel lobby, featuring over 100 hand-selected titles and 20 book signings.
