Suspect in L train death

Police are searching for a man who they identified as Ryan Beauchamp who ultimately caused the death of 20-year-old Howard Beach resident, Joshua Basin, on Saturday, at the Bedford Avenue stop on the L Train in Williamsburg.

According to police, the two men got into a verbal altercation on the train which led to a physical altercation on the Bedford Avenue underground station platform.

Police say that when both men got off at the stop, the suspect initiated a physical altercation which resulted in both individuals falling on to the tracks at the crowded station last Friday night around 10 p.m.

Beauchamp, a homeless man, was able to climb back up on to the platform but Basin was struck by an oncoming Northbound L train. Basin was rushed to Bellevue hospital where he was later pronounced dead on arrival.

\Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Beauchamp, who is 33-years-old, has a thin build and dirty blonde hair, and pock marks on the right side of his face.

According to police, he was wearing brown pants, a black rain jacket and black sneakers.
