Santorum doesn't grasp energy problems

Dear Editor:

The Republicans have found a new cause to champion: the price of gas.

Rick Santorum tells us that the spike in oil prices when President Obama took office contributed to the financial decline in this country. The prices are based on supply and demand and global markets. The global markets have only one concern and that is how they could best serve the long-term interests of their investors.

Santorum's mixed message is a sad testament to where we actually are regarding energy policy.

I want to give the GOP the benefit of the doubt that they understand what is at stake here, but they won't let me.

Partisan politics pure and simple. Santorum's archaic beliefs show us that he is oblivious to mainstream reality. This mediocre man clings to his faith as if it was the only virtue available to mankind.

Sincerely,

Charles Merendino
