The anguish on the anniversary of the Newtown elementary school shooting remains strong, but the National Rifle Association's (NRA) political and financial power is fading.
Democrats now control the House of Representatives, after 15 Democrat candidates with F ratings from the NRA defeated GOP rivals with A ratings. Voters realized that getting the NRA's top rating is like getting a high five from ISIS.
NRA revenues from membership dues and gun lobby donations are dropping, while many banks refuse to do business with the organization and gun manufacturers who support it.
Walmart and Dick's Sporting Goods no longer sell assault rifles, and won't sell any gun to anyone below the age of 21.
And the NRA's patriotic image took a big hit after Russian agent and NRA cheerleader Maria Butina pled guilty to infiltrating U.S. politics. NRA now stands for “Nefarious Russian Ally.”
Hopefully, soon it will stand for “Nearing Rapid Annihilation.”
