The annual Northside Festival, which brings together music, art, film and entrepreneurship with hundreds of bands and artists at various venues around Williamsburg and Greenpoint, returns this June for a fourth year of jam-packed activities.

On Monday, Borough President Marty Markowitz, along with Brooklyn-born rapper Gza from the Wu-Tang Clan and Northside Media Group CEO Scott Stedman and President Daniel Stedman, unveiled some of the lineup of this year's eight-day festivities.

Over 350 bands will perform at 30 plus venues, and over 45 films will screen at three theaters. There will be over 100 artists showcasing their creations along with 1,500 entrepreneurs. Northside Media expects over 80,000 attendees this year.

“New York City, and Brooklyn specifically, is the epicenter of a new entrepreneurship economy,” said Scott Stedman. “Brooklyn has become an adjective for 'what's next' and Northside Festival defines and showcases that adjective for a regional and national audience.”

Stedman called Northside, “an ever-growing, beautiful beast of a Festival, and Northside Entrepreneurship is the first major conference to specifically explore the next generation of innovators and the problems they’re solving.”

Past shows have showcased singers such as Oh Land, Guided by Voices, Theophilus London and Sharon Van Etten.

This year's lineup includes Chain and the Gang, ?uest Love of The Roots, The Atlas Moth, Cool Keith, Magrudergrind, Screaming Females, Dâm-Funk, Of Montreal, plus many more including Gza, who will be performing Liquid Swords with Grammy-winning Latin funk orchestra Grupo Fantasma.

The bands will perform at venues within the walkable radius of the Williamsburg and Greenpoint neighborhoods. And Williamsburg Park, the 7,000-capacity space currently being constructed at 50 Kent Avenue between North 11th and North 12th streets, will host multiple Northside shows.

The music component will run from June 14-17.

The festival will also feature Brooklyn premieres of films like Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best, Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry, Take This Waltz (Starring Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman, Aaron Abrams), Crazy Eyes, The Dynamite and more. The film portion of the festival will run from June 18-21.

“We are creating a whole new model for a film festival, partnering with every important film organization in New York City and beyond and letting them curate their own screening program at Northside,” said Daniel Stedman. “This format has worked for showcases at music festivals, and we’re really excited to do it with our film festival.”

The crew is also hosting another competition for under-the-radar and industrious filmmakers.

“We’re are thrilled to celebrate this ‘Do It Yourself’ art form with our DIY Competition and an amazing panel of judges,” Daniel Stedman added. “And with Social Cinema, we believe we are looking at the future of film distribution, and how films and screenings will be held and shared socially.”

This year, Northside Art , which runs from June 15-17, looks forward to hosting a group exhibition that reflects the local art community and the synergy between artists’ works and practices.

Northside Art will also host the annual Northside Open Studios with 100-plus artists living and working in Williamsburg and Greenpoint opening their studios to the public to engage in conversation, education, collaboration and appreciation.

Northside Entrepreneurship will transform a 40,000-square foot factory at 149 Kent Avenue into a conference and exhibition center that will host more than 40 panel discussions.
